On August 26, the naming and delivery ceremony for SAIC Anji Logistics’ 38th self-owned roll-on/roll-off vessel—the 9,500 CEU capacity “Anji Prosperity”—was held at the China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yizheng.
Guests from the governments of Yangzhou and Yizheng, Nanjing Jinling Shipyard, Shanghai Merchant Ship Design Research Institute, Jiangsu Branch of China Classification Society, DNV, China Shipowners Mutual Assurance Association, Wallem Shipping (Hong Kong) Limited, SAIC Motor Yizheng SAIKE, SAIC Volkswagen Yizheng, and other organizations attended the ceremony, jointly witnessing the new vessel’s delivery and maiden voyage.
Inheriting the advanced and environmentally friendly technical advantages of its class, this vessel becomes the third 9,500 CEU new-build to join SAIC Anji Logistics’ ocean fleet this year. Upon entry into service, it will make its maiden voyage to Europe, strengthening SAIC Anji Logistics’ capacity on international routes.
Speeches were delivered by Mr. Zhuang Jingxiong, General Manager of SAIC Anji Logistics; Mr. Xu Lian, Deputy General Manager of China Merchant Jinling Shipbuilding (Nanjing) Co., Ltd.; and Mr. Zhang Hua, Deputy Secretary of the Yizheng Municipal Party Committee and Acting Mayor.
With Ms. Liu Liu, Vice Mayor and Party Group Member of the Yangzhou Municipal Government, Mr. Zhang Hua, and Mr. Zhuang Jingxiong as witnesses, Mr. Xin Jianmin, Deputy General Manager of SAIC Anji Logistics, and Mr. Xu Lian signed the ship delivery documents, marking the smooth transfer of ownership and management rights for the “Anji Prosperity.”
Ms. Liu Liu officiated the naming of the new ship.
Mr. Zhuang Jingxiong announced the maiden voyage, and Ms. Liu Liu sounded the ship’s horn.
Currently, SAIC products are exported to more than 170 countries and regions worldwide, with cumulative overseas sales exceeding six million units—of which Europe accounts for over 300,000 units. In the first seven months of this year, despite challenges such as anti-subsidy tariffs, SAIC’s MG brand achieved nearly 180,000 end-user deliveries in Europe, registering double-digit growth.
SAIC Anji Logistics is a key driver in SAIC Motor’s global strategy. In recent years, the company has continuously strengthened its ocean roll-on/roll-off shipping fleet and now operates China’s largest self-owned finished vehicle fleet with 38 vessels. Meanwhile, it continues to enhance vessel operation and management, actively advancing end-to-end logistics visibility and intelligent dispatch systems. SAIC Anji Logistics has successfully opened eight international routes—including Southeast Asia, Mexico, the Persian Gulf, and Europe—constantly improving the company’s global smart logistics network.
The delivery and maiden voyage of the “Anji Prosperity” to Europe today is a vivid example of SAIC Anji Logistics’ efforts to build an independent and controllable international supply chain resource system, and represents another major force propelling “Chinese ships” to escort “Chinese cars” to the world stage.
